Our Promise
Our approach to sustainability: working with our hotel team, suppliers, and contractors we endeavour to manage our business in an effective sustainable way.
Lighting
Throughout the entire building, LED light bulbs have been installed for energy efficiency. To further reduce energy consumption, master switches have been placed in guest rooms to turn off all lighting easily. In addition, external lighting is remotely controlled to turn off at 11pm and back on at 7am to support dark skies. Back-of-house lighting is also being monitored to prevent units from being left on by installing push timers. These efforts aim to promote sustainability by reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
Our appearance
Some measures have been taken in our establishment to reduce our carbon footprint. Our kitchen has induction equipment that minimizes power consumption when not in use. We have replaced all our boilers with modern energy-saving units to save energy. We have installed 3 Porsche destination chargers to facilitate EV charging. Our outdoor pool is covered every night at 8pm and opened at 8am to retain heat. In our effort to reduce waste, we do not accept single-use plastic from suppliers. Additionally, we use the Coco+ fuel card for corporate travel, offsetting our carbon emissions.
Projects
We are excited to announce that our new 3 million pound investment will feature state-of-the-art rooms and meeting spaces powered by solar and air-sourced heat pumps. Using renewable energy sources reflects our commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. We believe it is essential to lead by example and create a space that not only meets the needs of our guests but also prioritises the planet's health. With these innovative features, we are confident that our guests will have a memorable and environmentally-conscious experience.
Grounds & Gardens
Our No-Dig Kitchen Garden is at the heart of everything we do - packed with organic produce, is used to serve our restaurant and dining dome experiences. Additionally, we have a bug hotel that acts as a sanctuary for insects, along with our honey bees on the estate to ensure biodiversity. We have also introduced areas of natural beauty, which reduce the need for mowing. Finally, we have a flower-picking garden that helps us cut down on buying flowers from Holland. We use the flowers we grow to create unique bouquets and displays around the hotel, adding a touch of beauty and sustainability.
Waste
We take responsibility for the proper disposal of waste seriously. This is why we separate out general waste, recyclable items, glass, and food to ensure they are disposed of in the most responsible way possible. By separating these items, we are able to minimize the impact of waste on the environment. We take great pride in our ability to recycle and divert as much waste as possible from landfills. We also have composting area, where we transform waste materials, such as coffee granules & food waste, into nutrient-rich compost. We use this compost to fertilize our plants without the need for any pesticides. Our team is committed to preserving our natural resources and leaving a cleaner planet for future generations.
Food & Beverage
We have taken measures to promote sustainability by implementing various eco-friendly practices. These include a ban on single-use plastic items such as straws and picks. We also source sustainable meat, fish, and dairy from local suppliers, with meat and dairy coming from within 8 miles of the hotel. Vegetarian products are sourced from our on-site No-Dig Kitchen Garden or suppliers based within 15 miles. Additionally, we source beverages locally to reduce our carbon footprint. For wine enthusiasts, we offer bio-dynamic wines, which are produced using organic methods.
Housekeeping
In an effort to minimise the cleaning of linen, we only service rooms on a request-only basis. Additionally, the bathroom amenities provided are both sustainable, locally sourced and ensure that no animals were tested in the making of the products. The shower heads are specifically designed to reduce water waste, further contributing to eco-friendliness. Even the bedding has been chosen with sustainability in mind, using hypoallergenic materials. Guests can rest easy knowing that their stay is not only comfortable but also environmentally conscious.
